Bathing has a long history, going back to the ancients. Soaking a tired body into warm water cleanses the mind, body and soul.

Most of us are extremely are time poor. Modern life is busy and chaotic, if you are a mum you are generally rushing away caring for your kids, men are under the pump too, the pressure of long work days, we all chasing life’s deadlines and chasing our must do schedule. Find time to do things we enjoy can be difficult, squeezing in time to see our friends or family, entertainment, going to the gym and even shopping, wow I am exhausted this about this and the list goes on. By the end of the evening, we just want to sit down, breathe, collapse and that’s probably the extent of your day’s pampering.

Epsom Salt and Sea Salt
Add a cup of Epsom Salts or Sea Salt in your bath, as the magnesium helps to reduce inflammation, stimulates oxygen and blood flow through your body, easy pain and helps to detoxify your body. This is a great bath after training or if you a experiencing cramping.
Magnesium can be helpful for people suffering depression, anxiety or broken sleep patterns. Try a Salt bath before bed it can really help with sleep and pain. Bathing significantly improved skin hydration, skin texture and skin tone. Researchers found the magnesium in the salts was responsible, since the chemical is known to bind water to the skin, promote skin cell growth and improve skin permeability. You can also add essential oils directly to hot water and with a cup of Epsom Salts offers comfort to balance and soothe you.
Sea Salt reduces swelling in cells by dehydrating them, and acts as an inhibitor of the inflammation that causes such serious pain in sufferers. Sea salt baths for pain relief have been used for thousands of years.

Essential Oils
It is best to mix your pure essential oil with a carrier oil first so it dissolves and mixes in your bath. Avoid oil like Peppermint, Ginger or Black Pepper can be too irritating to bathe with.
Here is a great recipe for the beautiful bathing experience.
- 1 ½ cups premium quality Epsom Salts
- 10-15 drops of your favourite essential oil
- 1 tablespoon sweet almond oil, jojoba oil or gently melted coconut oil
Jasmine and Ylang Ylang stimulants and uplifts your mood, a great go to after a day of tension, feel yourself soak away the chaos of the day. A little mojo warning, it is said that a bath scented with these exotic oils have aphrodisiacs quality when blended together.
Rose supports all skin types, has beautiful calming properties, gently uplifting and it helps with anxiety or nervous tension. Rose oil is wonderful for the skin has qualities to rejuvenate. Add some rose petals for extra bliss.
Geranium is an oil that is often used to as a rose essential oil because it has a very similar scent. Traditionally geranium has been used for stress and tension.
NB: Rich florals, like Rose, Ylang Ylang and Geranium only use a few drops at a time, they are beautiful but can become overpowering very quickly.
Rosehip for a beautiful soothing and balancing bath try this recipe 1.5 cups Epsom Salts ½ cup Sea salt and 10-15 drops of rosehip oil, yum it flushing away all the stresses, it’s amazing for the skin evens out skin tone, smooths wrinkles, and moisturises the body.
Cedarwood, Sandalwood or Rosewood are soothing and grounding, especially Sandalwood in particular is prized for its fragrance, as well as its calming properties.
Lavender known for its treatment to calming the nerves, relieving insomnia, it is the quintessential oil for harmony. Lavender also supports damaged, stressed or irritated skin, making it a wonderful choice for many of those with skin issues. You can also add lavender flower and leaves directly into your bath. We also a ½ cup of lavender water. You can make your own lavender water by adding cuttings from the lavender shrub, put directly into a pot and boil. Let cool,
strain and you can use the lavender water.
You can also use 2 cups lavender water with a cap of eucalyptus oil add into a spray bottle for around your home, or on even directly yourself to stop mosquito bites, on your pets and their bedding as fleas hate lavender and it’s great to refresh up your bedroom linen.
Chamomile is has gentle, calming properties, making it an excellent essential oil to ease before bed. Add a few drops of chamomile essential oil to a chamomile tea bag and let it soak in your bath for extra benefits.
Neroli is extracted from orange blossom flowers, it uplifts the spirit and soothes the mind. Neroli is a gentle sedative that encourages sleep and reduces anxiety. Think of this oil as the antidote to a stressful day.
The richness of a bath is a good way to get a full night’s sleep as it’s associated with a host temperature adjustment and hormones.
Overall the heat of the bath, will get your blood moving, which is not only great for circulation, sore away tight muscles to relax and leave you feeling balance and tranquil. The addition of Epsom salts in your warm bath has been proven to help reduce inflammation in your joints caused by arthritis or other muscular diseases.
