Align Your Mind and Body for Exercise
Are you going through days where you feel it’s time to align your mind and body for exercise?
You want to walk, run, exercise, feel amazing but your mind keeps telling you it’s too hard, stay in bed, too tired, maybe try again tomorrow or are you kidding you can’t do that.
Well to time to re-program!
Remind yourself of the facts. You’re not physically tired (unless you have a physical job), you’re mentally tired. The best cure for that is physical activity and, once you get started, you’ll feel better, yes really!
If you workout after work, don’t even let yourself sit down and watch TV or talk yourself into going home first instead of the gym.
How to Align Your Body and Mind for Exercise?
What is stopping you from continuing your exercise or starting your exercise. It could be fear of not succeeding, which stops you going very far. Are you speaking negative thoughts in your mind, like I want to exercise but “what if you can only make it for 5 minutes”? Your voice in your head says hmmm why bother? It will be hard! You’ll have to change clothes. Your lungs will burn, your legs will hurt, the others in the class looks so much better…your mind says, no thanks! This is your “survival” brain speaking, it’s thinks it is keeping you save, when it’s preventing you have future fitness, health and other areas of expansion.
Get an exercise buddy so you can encourage each other.
Get a coach to keep you on track and get your body memory in the habit of exercise. You need at least 21-28 days to change to a new habit.
Make a deal with yourself. You’ll exercise for 15 minutes and if you still REALLY don’t want to continue, then you can stop. 9 times out of 10 you’ll keep going.
If you finish your workout, give yourself something nice. A new pair of shoes, an hour reading your favorite book, a massage, etc.
Remember that each time you exercise you are preventing diseases and illness your stress levels decrease your happy hormones increase and you start looking younger and more toned. Your skin improves and your energy increases.
If you do get a cold or flu it’s probably the build up of the stress hormones particularly cortisol and toxins in the body. Rest until the cold goes then go back. Eventually your immunity will improve and you will be more illness resistant.
When you are stressed your digestive and immunity system does not work.
Stimulate your vagus nerve through eating fresh fruits and veggies, exercise and drink water. This nerve is is one of 12 cranial nerves. It forms part of the involuntary nervous system and commands unconscious body procedures, parasympathetic nervous system to relax and restore, heals the body, such as keeping the heart rate constant and controlling food digestion.
Exercise helps with posture especially yoga. The vagus nerve is can be irritated with poor posture along with muscular imbalances can also cause the vagus nerve to misfire. Excess alcohol will also imbalance the vagus nerve.
